There’s A New ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Trailer

In less than two months, Marvel fans will get to experience possibly the penultimate incarnation of this Avengers team. All bets are off; this could, in fact, be the end for some of our beloved superheroes.

Ultron (James Spader), a sentient robot, breaks away from creator Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) control. In an effort to protect humanity from aliens from outer space, Stark makes what he hopes will be humankind’s saving grace — artificial intelligence. Yet perhaps the greatest twist of irony here is that Ultron deduces the only way to bring lasting peace to humans is to destroy them.

Deviating from the original Ultron story where Hank Pym was the Avenger to bring him to life, Ultron in this film is more menacing than ever, armed with his own team of hive-minded robots in the same way Tony Stark himself was in Iron Man 3. In addition to Ultron, the Avengers must also overcome strife from within the team.

With the added mysterious roles of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), the biggest enemy our heroes will be battling in this film might just be themselves. Flashes of sequences show Thor (Chris Hemsworth) hoisting Stark up by his neck, and Stark and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) duking it out in the streets of the city, with Stark dressed in a modified Iron Man suit termed “the Hulk Buster.” From earlier trailers, we also see Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) aggressively ripping logs in half while arguing with Tony over what helping people and being a good person really means. This is likely the budding of a conflict Marvel fans will later get to see in Captain America: Civil War.

The new trailer also reveals Wanda a.k.a. Scarlet Witch performing some of her reality-altering abilities on Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Pietro Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver fighting Captain America. As always, Marvel reveals more clues and opens more unsolved mysteries in their teaser trailer.

In what will no doubt be a riveting and exciting second installment of The Avengers, Whedon has already teased the possibility of a few deaths in this film. Little has been revealed about plot, as the actors themselves joke about fearing “Marvel snipers” on the lookout to keep details about the film hushed.

For the moment, all fans can do is speculate, hope for the best for their favorite characters, and count down the days until May 1.
