Dinosaurs are taking over pop culture this year with both The Good Dinosaur and Jurassic World, which comes out June 12. The teaser trailer for The Good Dinosaur shows a friendlier and more lighthearted take on dinosaurs. Pixar played a clip from the movie at the Cannes Film Festival this year and Variety described it as a “cross between Tarzan and Lilo & Stitch.”
Raising Hope‘s Lucas Neff will voice Arlo, the main protagonist of the movie and a young Apatosaurus. Directed by Peter Sohn, The Good Dinosaur also features John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer, and Bill Hader.
The Good Dinosaur asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.
In addition to The Good Dinosaur, Pixar’s upcoming slate of movies includes Inside Out (June 19, 2015), Finding Dory (June 17, 2016), and Toy Story 4 (June 16, 2017). Inside Out premiered at Cannes to a very positive reception.
The Good Dinosaur will be released in theaters on November 25, 2015.
