After much anticipation by Gladers all around, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials trailer is finally here.
Watching the trailer, you get the sense that this film will delve a lot more into the world of these characters. It isn’t simply about the maze anymore. Now, Thomas and his fellow Gladers have to survive Scorch City. Because of everything they had to go through in The Maze Runner, their hesitation to trust anyone, in particular WCKD, propels them into the Scorch.
Among the scenes of fast-paced cinematography, we get a glimpse of some newcomers. Rat Man (Aiden Gillen) trying to get them to trust him, Harriet (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Sonya (Katherine McNamara) brandishing guns, the back of Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito) walking to the trapped Gladers, and Brenda (Rosa Salazar) hanging onto Thomas’ hand for dear life. It’s interesting to note that Jorge and Brenda’s faces have been kept hidden to keep the surprise of the Cranks a secret, like keeping the Grievers a surprise until the first film was released.
If you’d like to join me in stopping the trailer every second and analyzing every bit of it, please watch the trailer and join me in the comments to speculate about what changes were made and what might be going on in those scenes.
In this next chapter of the epic Maze Runner saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.
The Maze Runner‘s sequel, The Scorch Trials, will be released in theaters on September 18, 2015 and make sure to read the trilogy by James Dashner beforehand!
