It’s just a three minute trailer, but I feel like I watched the entire film already.
The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
Insidious: Chapter 3 will star Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Lin Shaye, Angus Sampson, Leigh Whannell, and a lot of unnecessary jump scares.
Really though, the scariest part about this trailer is their version of the “Tiptoe Through The Tulips” song, though I am working on desensitizing myself to songs in which a chorus of children slowly chants playground lullabies so it’s not as terrifying to me as it could’ve been. I haven’t actually seen the first two Insidious films yet (is there a plural for ‘insidious’? Insidiouses?), but based on what I see here, I don’t think I’d be missing much for skipping this threequel prequel. If I’m wrong for this, please let me know in the comments!
