Happy Valentine’s Day! Here Is ’10 Things I Hate About You’

10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favorite quotable movies of all-time. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, 10 Things I Hate About You is about a bad boy named Patrick (Heath Ledger) who agrees to seduce the strong-willed and bad-tempered Kat (Julia Stiles).

When Patrick realizes he has real feelings for Kat, his big romantic gesture is when he sings “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” on the bleachers in front of the entire soccer team. Patrick ends up getting detention for the performance, but it was all worth it because Kat ends up forgiving him — for rejecting her kiss and leaving her humiliated the night before — and breaking him out of detention to go paint-balling.

After a disastrous prom night where Kat learns the truth about what motivated Patrick to pursue her in the first place, she reads a poem titled “Ten Things I Hate About You” in front of her English class.

I hate the way you talk to me
And the way you cut your hair
I hate the way you drive my car
I hate it when you stare

I hate your big dumb combat boots
And the way you read my mind
I hate you so much that it makes me sick
It even makes me ryhme

I hate the way you’re always right
I hate it when you lie
I hate it when you make me laugh
Even worse when you make me cry

I hate the way you’re not around
And the fact that you didn’t call
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you
Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all

Patrick buys Kat a guitar with the money he got to seduce her, and the two finally reconcile at the end of the movie.

*sigh* This movie is perfect <3
