What To Watch Tonight: Two-Hour Premiere of ‘Agent Carter’

agent carter what to watch tonight

Agent Carter
8PM on ABC. “When Howard Stark finds himself being framed, he reaches out to Peggy to help him clear his name.” The highly anticipated two-hour premiere of Agent Carter, starring Hayley Atwell, premieres tonight on ABC. After losing Steve Rogers, Peggy goes to work for the S.S.R. but she’s also living a double life as a secret agent. The series sort of reminds me of Alias, which is awesome. Plus, Atwell is terrific.

Dance Moms
9PM on Lifetime. The fifth season premiere kicks off with “99 Problems but a Mom Ain’t One”. “The dance competition season is off to a rocky start when a key team member disappears.”

The Mindy Project
9:30PM on FOX. “Mindy makes an unfortunate first impression on her fellowship class at Stanford.” In The Mindy Project‘s winter finale, Mindy accepted a fellowship to go to Stanford, which also meant being long-distance with Danny. Season 3 so far has focused heavily on Mindy and Danny’s relationship, so how will the dynamics (and the show) change with Mindy on the other side of the country?

The Real World: Skeletons
10PM on MTV. “The roommates are stunned when the first ‘skeleton’ moves into the house; Sylvia’s temper boils.” It’s about time a skeleton showed up! While I generally like all of the female cast members this season (although Sylvia is a bit obnoxious and not in any entertaining way), the men have been complete duds.

The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II
11PM on MTV. “Contestants learn they will be competing against their exes.” This upcoming season of The Challenge has an unfortunate dark cloud looming over it with the passing of longtime contestant Diem Brown, who lost her battle with cancer at the end of last year. MTV recently aired a “We Heart Diem” special to honor her memory and remember the incredibly journey she went on during The Challenge, including her relationship with fellow contestant C.T. Tamburello. Ryan Knight, another contestant on this season who first appeared in The Real World: New Orleans in 2010, passed away just two weeks after Diem.

Agent Carter was wonderful! It was fun, interesting, and really displayed Peggy as three-dimensional character with her own struggles and achievements. It had a bit of a pilot-y vibe, but mostly it was just pleasant viewing. Worlds and lightyears better than Agents of Shield. I wish we could get a full season order of Agent Carter.

BTW I just had to google “The Real World: Skeletons” because I had this fleeting moment of hope that MTV was airing a parody show where Real World types have to live in a house with literal animated skeletons for roommates.

“What do you want on the pizza?”
“The sprinkled shards of a lifetime of regret.”
“Okay well I’ll tell them to put that on your half.”

update: it appears that is not what the show is about
