Future Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) is hosting Saturday Night Live this week with musical guest and R&B singer D’Angelo.
Simmons and Kenan Thompson rushed through their SNL promos amidst NYC’s so-called “Snowpocalypse”. Simmons is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as a brutal and hard-ass conductor in Whiplash, which premiered at Sundance last year and is also nominated for Best Picture.
You may remember Simmons from his prison days in HBO’s Oz. He also played psychiatrist Dr. Emil Skoda in the Law & Order franchise and newsman J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. He’s a prolific voice actor, as well, whose credits include playing Tenzin in The Legend of Korra and J. Jonah Jameson in various Marvel animated series including Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H..
His episode of Saturday Night Live will air this Saturday.
