First Look At ‘iZombie’ Premiering On The CW

Loosely based on a comic book series published by Vertigo, Rose McIver (Masters of Sex, Once Upon A Time) plays Liv Moore, a medical resident who also happens to be a brain-eating zombie. But in iZombie, being a zombie is kind of like being a superhero, or just a really good homicide detective. Liz gets the memories from whatever brain she recently chowed down on, which is helpful when you want solve a murder.

Because this is a show on The CW, we also have Liv attempting dating and romance with a character named Major Lilywhite, played by Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill); the two were once engaged but Liv broke it off. Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings) plays recently promoted homicide detective Clive Babinaux and Rahul Kohli plays Liv’s co-worker/boss at the coroner’s office, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, a forensic pathologist. Alias‘ David Anders will play the show’s main antagonist, Blaine DeBeers, an evil zombie and “an entitled rich kid who bites off more than he can chew in the drug business.” Aly Michalka will play Liv’s best friend and roommate, Peyton Charles.

Rob Thomas is one of the creators so expect some Veronica Mars sensibilities. Two Veronica Mars cast members — Percy Daggs III and Ryan Hansen — are already scheduled to guest star on iZombie.

iZombie premieres on The CW on Tuesday, March 17.
