New ‘Divergent: Insurgent’ Trailer: Set the World Free

After the heart-racing and emotional ending of the first film in the Divergent series based on the book series by Veronica Roth, Tris (Shailene Woodley) along with her fellow Divergent boyfriend, Four (Theo James) are forced to live on the run from Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet). In the sequel, Insurgent, Jeanine’s on a mission to conduct experiments on people who are Divergent, and of course, Tris is the best candidate. In an effort to have better chances taking up arms against her and the rest of her Erudite clan, Divergents join forces with the Factionless, people who didn’t categorize to be put in any of the factions and therefore must live a poverty-stricken life.

Despite the various fight sequences shown in the trailer and that one very steamy sex scene between Tris and Four, Tris seems to eventually give herself up to Jeanine and her experiments, but there’s a catch. The experiment isn’t to fight with just anyone, Tris must fight with herself.

As for me, I’ll probably head to the movie theater to check it out mainly because I’m intrigued to see what’ll happen when Tris tries to fight herself. She’ll probably break through the glass again because that seems to be how she solved all of her problems in Divergent and because that’s the big finish in the trailer. Either way, check it out for yourself and decide.

Divergent: Insurgent raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Kate Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.

Insurgent will be in theaters on March 20, 2015. It stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Naomi Watts, Maggie Q, Kate Winslet, Zoe Kravitz, Mekhi Phifer, Octavia Spencer, Rosa Salazar, and Jai Courtney.
