CBS Cancels ‘The Millers’

cbs cancels the millers

The Hollywood Reporter reports that CBS has canceled Greg Garcia’s sophomore sitcom The Millers, which starred Will Arnett, Margo Martindale, Beau Bridges, Jayma Mays, and J.B. Smoove. The sitcom had added Will and Grace‘s Sean Hayes to the cast for Season 2 hoping it would drive up the ratings. The last episode got 6.5 million viewers.

The Millers centered on Nathan Miller (Arnett) a TV news reporter who had divorced his wife months prior to his parents (Martindale and Bridges) returning home from a vacation. In response, Nathan’s parents decide to get a divorce, putting Nathan and his sister (Mays) in the middle. Only four episodes have aired into its second season. Survivor: Caramoan winner John Cochran was one of the writers on the show.

The fall TV grim reaper has also claimed Manhattan Love Story, A to Z, Bad Judge, and — most recently — Selfie, the Karen Gillan/John Cho vehicle.

The Odd Couple revival, a multi-camera sitcom starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon, is slated for a midseason premiere in 2015 on CBS. (The supporting cast includes Community‘s Yvette Nicole Brown.)
