Netflix’s New Series ‘Marco Polo’ Hits All The Right Spots

Marco! Polo!

Okay, all attempts at recreating a beloved childhood pool game aside (it is nearly November, after all…), the brand spanking new trailer for Netflix’s Marco Polo has just been unveiled to whet the appetites of viewers. The show looks set to be a relatively accurate, if glossy, portrayal of Polo’s exploration and journey of China and the Asian continent in the thirteenth century.

While the sound of a historical drama might turn some people away, the trailer features sword fights, gorgeous locales (the show was filmed in Italy, China, Malaysia, and Kazakhstan), absolutely stunning sets that rival those on professional film sets, naked assassins, and more than enough action to sate even the most voracious of battle scene aficionados.

Helmed by Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy as Polo, and with solid actors such as future Avengers: Age of Ultron star Claudia Kim, former Bond baddie Rick Yune, Twin Peaks actress Joan Chen, and British actor Benedict Wong as Kublai Khan rounding out the show’s impressive cast, the show is set to land on Netflix in December 2014, so keep your eyes peeled, and watch the trailer a dozen more times.

Marco Polo will debut on Netflix on December 12, 2014.
