Marvel Announces Phase 3 Details: ‘Black Panther, ‘Captain Marvel,’ ‘Infinity War’ and More

Naturally, Marvel couldn’t wait to one-up DC — they made a series of announcements about Phase 3 today at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. We got logos for each of the new films announced, including an exclusive look at the costume design for Black Panther.

Plus, Marvel confirmed that Chadwick Boseman, who recently starred as James Brown in the Get On Up biopic, will play Black Panther a.k.a. T’Challa. The shot of a bearded Andy Serkis in the Avengers: Age of Ultron teaser was the first big indicator that we would be seeing a Black Panther movie. Fan speculation is that Serkis is playing Ulysses Klaw, a villain who plays a major role in Black Panther’s story.

While A-list actor Joaquin Phoenix was said to be in talks to lead the Doctor Strange movie, the deal never happened and the latest rumor is that Marvel wants Benedict Cumberbatch in the role.
