Nicole Kidman is Christine Lucas, a woman with amnesia in Before I Go To Sleep, based on the best-selling novel by S.J. Watson.
After an accident, Christine is now able to store up information for a day, but remembers nothing the next morning when she wakes up. Her husband Ben, played by Colin Firth, appears to be loving and patient, helping Christine through her day-to-day life. At the urging of Dr. Nasch (Mark Strong), who claims to be helping her regain her memory, she begins to surreptitiously record parts of her life and piece together what happened to her – and it seems to work, as she begins to remember things. But can Dr. Nasch be trusted? And what is her husband hiding?
A taut thriller, Before I Go To Sleep is the story of a woman (Nicole Kidman) who wakes up every day with no memory as the result of a traumatic accident in her past. One day, terrifying new truths begin to emerge that make her question everything she thinks she knows about her life – as well as everyone in it, including her doctor (Mark Strong) and even her husband (Colin Firth).
The trailer is as twisty and turn-y as you would expect something like this to be, but it also reveals a lot from the film, and the premise doesn’t really sound like my cup of tea.
Before I Go To Sleep will be released in theaters on October 31, 2014.
