TV News: Uzo Aduba and Joe Morton Win Creative Arts Emmys

Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne a.k.a. Crazy Eyes on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, and Joe Morton, who plays Olivia Pope’s father on Scandal, won their first Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Aduba won for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and was competing with two of her Orange Is the New Black co-stars, Laverne Cox and Natasha Lyonne, as well as actresses Joan Cusack (Shameless), Tina Fey (Saturday Night Live), and Melissa McCarthy (Saturday Night Live). Meanwhile, Morton won for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in the episode “Guess Who’s Coming For Dinner” and beat out Dylan Baker (The Good Wife), Beau Bridges (Masters of Sex), Reg E. Cathey (House of Cards), Paul Giamatti (Downton Abbey), and Robert Morse (Mad Men).

Other notable winners include Jimmy Fallon for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance on Saturday Night Live and Allison Janney for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance on Showtime’s Masters of Sex. Orange Is the New Black won for Outstanding Casting in a Comedy Series. Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series went to HBO’s True Detective.
