Trailer: Too Much Screaming in ‘The Quiet Ones’

“Something unspeakable is happening to Jane Harper.”

Reportedly inspired by true events, upcoming horror film The Quiet Ones follows the story of Professor Coupland (Jared Harris, Mad Men) after he recruits several of his students and a cameraman (Sam Claflin, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) to help him conduct a series of experiments. Said experiments involve creating a poltergeist out of the “negative energy” from a demonically possessed girl named Jane Harper (Olivia Cooke, Bates Motel).

As this article’s title suggests, the two minute trailer is 50% exposition and 50% unintelligible screaming. It probably doesn’t bode well for this film that my first thoughts were “okay so this is totally not legal,” and “well what the fuck did you expect, messing around with demons?” Because honestly, what the fuck did they expect.

Whether or not these events actually happened (my 30-second half-hearted Google search tells me nothing) doesn’t quite matter, because regardless, The Quiet Ones will be rolling out to theaters April 10th in the UK, and April 25 in the US.
