FOX Renews “The Mindy Project,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Etc.

Surprise! FOX has renewed its comedy shows The Mindy Project, New Girl, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, along with drama series The Following. Mindy Project and The Following will move onto their third seasons, with fan favorite New Girl getting a fourth and the ever hilarious Brooklyn Nine-Nine on its second.

Some of this news actually does come as a shock – The Mindy Project, in particular, hasn’t been doing too well lately (its unimpressive ratings gave way to an extended hiatus after the show’s winter finale, leading most to believe it was on FOX’s chopping block), while Brooklyn Nine-Nine, though critically successful and winner of a Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series, hasn’t quite found its audience yet. The Following‘s second season also dropped down to a new series low, even with a Super Bowl promo.

But whatever the reason is for these renewals, fans of the shows will agree that the surprise is a pleasant one.
