Trailer: “Godzilla” Starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Elizabeth Olsen

As someone who’s never seen the original Godzilla (and I am well aware that this is a travesty I need to rectify immediately, thank you), hearing about a reboot of the classic 1954 film didn’t spark much more than casual interest in me.

After viewing the official trailer that dropped today, those casual feelings have morphed into “oh em gee give it to me now.”

Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, and Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston, Godzilla follows the origins of the legendary monster as it appears to wreak havoc and destruction in modern times. The trailer, which is dialogue-free save for a “let’s go to war” speech at the beginning, is particularly effective at upping the drama and anxiety. We even get a brief glimpse of the roaring creature at the end, covered in smoke.

Godzilla is scheduled for release May 16, 2014.
