In a reboot that nobody asked for (something that the trailer addresses), Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are back for another installment of 21 Jump Street. Except this time it’s being called 22 Jump Street because the Koreans bought back the church on 21 Jump Street. Rob Riggle and Dave Franco, who starred in the first movie, also make a brief appearance at the end of the trailer. And Ice Cube is back, as well.
21 Jump Street was surprisingly funny and entertaining, so I’m kind of looking forward to the sequel. But 22 Jump Street could easily turn out to be The Hangover 2. This time, Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) are going undercover at a college, but based off the trailer, a lot of the same jokes and plot elements get repeated. It’ll be interesting to see how 22 holds up against 21.
22 Jump Street is scheduled for release on June 13, 2014.
