Was the FXX network really necessary? I mean… really?
Since FX decided to split into two channels, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell was one of the shows to get moved to the new FXX network – along with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League. The FXX channel is available in 26 million fewers homes compared to the FX channel.
Now, FXX has decided to pull the plug on one of its shows – Totally Biased. The talk show, produced by Chris Rock, was pretty refreshing and very distinctive from other… let’s say, whiter talk shows hosted by guys like Jimmy Fallon or Conan “I-Like-To-Stereotype-Muslim-Women” O’Brien. Totally Biased tackled a wide range of social, political, and economic issues from a very unique perspective – one that you usually don’t get on TV. Writers such as Hari Kondabolu and Dwayne Kennedy often appeared in segments to do bits about various topics like racial profiling or even Civil War reenactments
You won’t find anything like Totally Biased on television, and it’s a damn shame that FXX has decided to cancel the program without letting it properly set in its roots and build an audience. (That FXX exists at all is one big, gigantic shame.)
Hopefully, this cancellation isn’t permanent and Totally Biased somehow manages to find a home on a different network. It’s happened before. It could happen again.
Meanwhile, let’s take a look back at some of the awesome segments that Totally Biased has produced. This is just a small sampling:
