“Artemis Fowl” Movie In The Works

Aft

It’s weird to think about it now, but when I was a kid I absolutely loved the Artemis Fowl series, a science fiction/fantasy book series written by Eoin Colfer. I say ‘weird,’ because if you asked me right now for specific details on what happened in the books or why I loved it (and banned me from going online to Google anything) I would be at a complete loss. Nevertheless, loved it I did.

So when I heard today that Disney and famed producer Harvey Weinstein are teaming up to make the Artemis Fowl books into a movie, I was beyond excited.

The movie will follow the adventures of the eponymous Artemis Fowl, a teenage criminal mastermind who ends up biting off more than he can chew when he kidnaps a fairy named Holly Short.

There’s not much detail to be had yet – after all, the announcement was only made today – but what we do know is that the film will be based on the first two books of the series, Artemis Fowl and Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident. I’ll be sitting here waiting with bated breath until more details come out – and possibly rereading my books so I can relive my childhood again.

Are you as excited and hopeful for this film adaptation as I am? What are some of your dream casts? Let me know in the comments!

  • I love this book (and remember it vividly!) and I’m excited for the movie. Unless of course, it turns out to be like the Eragon movie which was a trainwreck.

    • I wish I remembered the books more, because I thought they were AWESOME back in the day. Though I haven’t seen the Eragon movie, I’ve heard bad things too – I certainly hope Artemis Fowl lives up to my expectations! Thanks for reading 🙂
