“12 Years A Slave” Trailer

Another day, another official movie trailer. Today’s first glimpse into a film is for the Steve McQueen directed 12 Years A Slave, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Quvenzhané Wallis, Ruth Negga, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

“I don’t want to survive. I want to live.”

Based on the like-named autobiography of Solomon Northup, the film will follow the story of a free black man who is abducted from his home in New York in 1841, then sold into slavery on a Louisiana plantation, where he’s forced to work for twelve years before being released.

The film is due to be released on October 18, 2013 and is already gaining Oscar buzz for McQueen’s directing and Ejiofor and Fassbender’s performances. Fassbender has worked with McQueen before on Shame (2011) and Hunger (2008).
